Choosing a first dance

Choosing your first dance can feel like a big decision — and it kind of is. It’s the first moment you step out as a married couple with everyone watching, and the soundtrack you pick can set the tone for the whole evening.
Some couples go for a classic slow dance — something romantic, timeless, and all about the two of you. There’s something special about a moment like that: the lights are low, the crowd fades away, and you just have a few minutes to soak it all in together.

But let’s be honest — not everyone loves the idea of a slow dance in the spotlight. If you’re not that confident dancing, or you’d feel more comfortable with a bit of fun and energy, I always recommend going for something more upbeat. It doesn’t have to be a full-on choreographed routine (unless that’s your thing!) — just something that makes you feel relaxed and allows you to enjoy yourselves without overthinking it.
At the end of the day, there’s no rulebook. The best first dance songs are the ones that mean something to you — whether that’s a soul classic, a guilty pleasure, or the song that was playing when you first met. It’s your day, your moment, your music.
Pick something that makes you smile, and the rest will take care of itself.
